In case you missed the announcements:

the 2018 Newbery Medal winner is the book Hello, Universe by Erin Entrada Kelly. It's about a boy who gets trapped at the bottom of a well thanks to a bully.

 

Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut illustrated by Gordon C. James, written by Derrick Barnes  

Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds 

Piecing Me Together by Renée Watson   This one is a Lonestar book this year.

The beautiful picture book, Wolf in the Snow written and illustrated by Matthew Cordell, won the Caldecott Medal for most distinguished American picture book. It’s about a girl in a bright red coat who leaves school in a worsening snow storm.  

 

The four Caldecott Honor books are:

Big Cat, Little Cat by Elisha Cooper 

Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut illustrated by Gordon C. James, written by Derrick Barnes  Did you notice that this one also is a Newbery Honor book?

A Different Pond illustrated by Thi Bui, written by Bao Phi
